Eligibility 2009

Films that meet the following conditions are eligible:

• Feature length, defined as over 60 minutes (Feature Films and Children’s Feature Films) and over 40 minutes (Documentary Feature Films and Animated Feature Films) that are intended for theatrical release.
• Had its first public screening in a cinema, FIAPF accredited festival or national film festival within the Asia-Pacific region after 31 August 2007 or
• Secure a first public screening at any of the venues mentioned above by 31 October 2008.
• Predominantly created in countries and areas defined as being in the Asia-Pacific region, by filmmakers of the region, that best reflect cultural origins and cinematic excellence.
• Eligibility will be determined by a test under which films must achieve at least 9 out of a possible 12 maximum points covering cultural criteria; and 10 out of a possible 14 maximum points covering creative criteria.
